Voting for children’s drawings for e-ticket started on website of "Rīgas satiksme"

Every visitor of the "Rīgas satiksme" website at www.rigassatiksme.lv can evaluate children’s drawings published there and vote for the best one. The drawing having collected maximum amount of votes will be printed on e-tickets at the end of this year.

On May 23 Rīgas satiksme organised an event in tram depot No. 5 at Brīvības Street 191 for former patients of the Hemato-oncologic Department of the Children Clinical Hospital who have won cancer successfully. Last year, the Children Hospital Foundation and a group of like-minded persons launched a charity campaign, Sunny days, to raise funds for the reconstruction of the above department. Its  former patients what it is like to be treated in unsuitable and outdated premises,  and therefore take an active part in events aimed at supporting its reconstruction.

The call of Rīgas satiksme to children to draw drawings for e-tickets is not just an interesting adventure, but also an excellent opportunity to draw public attention to this charity event. At the beginning, children were invited to a guided tour of the tram depot, to see how spare parts are manufactured in the forge, how trams are cleaned and painted, and also other works done in the depot. After the excursion the children draw drawings devoted to the 10th anniversary of Rīgas satiksme under the guidance of artist Jānis Anmanis.

It should be reminded that on February 20, 2003, two Riga bus depots, Imanta and Tālava, merged together, providing basis for establishing a new company, Rīgas satiksme. Two years later the new company was joined by the Tram and Trolleybus Directorate, Riga Parking Lots and Riga City Council Moor Pool and became one of the largest municipal companies, which today employs a staff of 4000. On February 20 Riga municipal company Rīgas satiksme celebrates its 10th anniversary.

The tradition of printing children drawings on e-tickets was established four years ago. In 2010 and 2012 the company invited children from orphanages, and in 2011 students from the Jānis Rozentāls secondary school of arts and the Latvian Children and Youth Academy of Artistic Fantasy.
